Motery stocks beginner-friendly options across all of these categories from trusted brands at a range of price points. The in-store team at 207 Victoria St, West Melbourne, is also happy to help you put together a full kit if you are not sure where to start.

What types of motorcycle apparel and gear do you sell?

Motery stocks a full range of motorcycle riding apparel including jackets, pants, gloves, rainwear, armour, casual riding clothing, race suits, and airbag systems. The range covers road, touring, adventure, off-road, and casual riders.

What motorcycle gear is legally required to ride in Australia?

An approved helmet is the only item legally required across all Australian states. Beyond that, gear laws vary by state. Most riders and safety advocates recommend a jacket with CE-rated armour, gloves, pants with knee and hip protection, and boots as a minimum. Motery stocks all of these across multiple brands and price points.

Is motorcycle apparel protective?

Yes, quality motorcycle apparel is designed to provide real protection. Jackets and pants from brands like Alpinestars and Dainese include CE-rated armour at impact zones such as shoulders, elbows, knees, and hips. Many also include abrasion-resistant materials like Cordura, leather, and Kevlar lining. The level of protection varies by product, so check the CE rating and armour inclusions before purchasing.

Do you ship motorcycle gear Australia-wide?

Yes. Motery is a Melbourne-based motorcycle gear shop that ships to every state and territory across Australia. Orders are dispatched quickly and tracked from the moment they leave Motery's warehouse.

What is your return and exchange policy if my gear does not fit?

Do you sell casual motorcycle clothing for when I am off the bike?

Yes. Motery stocks casual motorcycle clothing designed to look like everyday wear while still offering rider-friendly features. This includes Kevlar-lined shirts, hoodies, and casual pants that provide some abrasion resistance without looking like riding gear.

What do most bikers wear?

Most experienced riders wear a helmet, jacket, gloves, riding pants, and boots as a minimum. Many also add a base layer for temperature control and a back protector for additional coverage. The specific gear varies depending on riding style, with touring riders often opting for fully waterproof options and street riders going for lighter, more flexible motorcycle riding jackets and pants.
